Five Things To Do This Weekend
The Earth Hour weekend is a fantastic time to give back to mother nature. For a head start, we sneak in five eco-friendly events for you.
Earth Hour Ride 2013
As part of their 'go green' pledge, Queensbay Mall's Earth Hour Ride 2013 will raise awareness on environmental change and our pursuit for a greener lifestyle. Hosted by model, actress and personality Jojo Struys, participants will paddle around the mall's perimeter with non-essential lights switched off. To participate, bring along your bicycle equipped with front light and rear blinkers and register yourself at the event. Queensbay Mall has also pledged for a RM5,000 donation to St. Nicholas Home should the target of 500 participants is reached - another motivation to sign up.
Earth Hour gathering and mini concert
Penang Times Square has also pledged their support for Earth Hour with a more hippy gathering and a mini concert this Saturday. Catch live performance by local band Soul Music and be the first 100 participants to receive free organic candles. Just for the tireless kids, free face painting and balloon sculpturing are available from 7.30pm-9.30pm. Should you feel parched midway, free drinks will be served to visitors with their own reusable cups or tumblers.
'Heal the World' with Michael Jackson
Reliving the glory of the world's undisputed King of Pop, Las Vegas' Michael Jackson impersonator, Frederick Henry will moonwalk and perform his classic tracks at Soju Room every night throughout March. Popular dance-worthy songs include 'Beat it', 'Billie Jean' and 'Thriller'.
Eco scrub making workshop at Queensbay Mall
Scrubs are great for exfoliation and removing dull cells. This workshop will teach a step-by-step tutorial in creating your own eco scrub from natural ingredients. Workshop participants will get to concoct two types of scrubs: cocktail body scrub raining summer (for oily skin) and cocktail body scrub white heaven (for dry skin). As this workshop only accommodates 20 participants, register yourself before Mar 23 along with a RM50 purchase in a single receipt.
Adopt a Plant at Gurney Plaza
You can't have too many plants at home, so adopt one this weekend. For RM30, visitors will get a plant and a 'Adopt a Plant' t-shirt. Lucky green fingers will also get a photo-op and autography t-shirts from international model Amber Chia (from 5pm-7pm). The fee will entitle two people for a photo opportunity with Amber herself.
