Now open: Work Palette

Tucked in a leafy square of Medan Maktab in Pulau Tikus is this 2-storey mobile space designed for freelancers, mobile entrepreneurs or anyone looking for a place to lay their laptop to work. Proud to be a green-friendly mobile space, they’re very possibly the first to practise this by recycling – or ‘upcycle’, as they call it – used wood for furniture and people-friendly paint on their walls. There’s even a can crusher on hand before you discard that aluminium can empty of drink.

More importantly the question here is, in a city where Wi-Fi is widely found and for free, why would anyone pay to use this mobile work space? For instance, there will be virtually no distractions here. The ambience is peaceful, the interior set to inspire creative and muddled minds alike.

Besides, they offer a host of facilities such as high-speed internet access, complimentary coffee and tea all day, light snacks, sectioned off areas for meetings and comfy zones for you take a break. Services wise, they’re a group of experience individuals from different backgrounds such as technology, writing, PR and even property development consultancy, that you can exploit as a client of Work Palette.

It’s a little like working from an eccentric-designed home office, if you can imagine it. The place is colourful but not garish, fun but not silly and spacious but not cavernous. Admittedly, theirs is an unconventional concept but definitely a product of today’s environment of environmental awareness and the pursuit of creativity.

They also plan to hold monthly workshops, forums and training sessions on a myriad topics that appeal to their clientele and that will cater to unique requests. To find out more on this and their work space rental rates, simply log on to their website or contact them direct.
