Nasi Kandar Beratur
As the name suggests, be prepared to queue no less than 30 minutes for your turn. Ardent fans regularly turn up at least 30 minutes before they open to get first dibs. Each curry boasts a complex mix of hand-ground spices laboriously cooked for hours to produce a delicate balance of fragrance, fire and flavour. But if you can only stomach one spicy item, go for the beef. Soft, tender and cooked in a rich gravy that’s a cross between curry and sweet black sauce, the meat is as flavourful as the spiciest curries at half the heat factor. Definitely worth the long wait.
