Edo-Ichi Japanese Cuisine
Time Out says
Edo-Ichi, a relative newcomer to Penang’s already saturated Japanese dining scene, has somehow, by beginner’s luck or by the sheer virtue of its good food and good atmosphere, managed to thrive under competitive circumstances. The place is often full with patrons hugnry for their finely sliced, fresh sashimi from RM28++ to the nine assorted platter of fish at RM180++.
If raw fish is not your thing, there are teriyaki, yakimono and sushi dishes too. Although, their variety of light, spider-web like batter of tempura coated prawns and vegetables dipped into finely shaved ginger and barely-there, delicate soya sauce, will win you over. Complete that meal with a small, elongated cup of refined cawa mushi (steamed egg) that has bits of surprise ending.
Their set dinner starts from RM42++ to RM55++ for a sashimi set while their lunch sets are from RM26++. Each set comes with a bowl of miso soup, cawa mushi and fresh, grated salad generously drizzled by a lightly salty thousand island sort of dressing. A cup of Japanese green tea is RM1++. The service is efficient and the wait staff are friendly. In short, Edo Ichi's food is of top-notch quality, quite a match for their sleek and contemporary interior. They open between 11:30am to 2:30pm for lunch and 6pm for dinner. Su Aziz
