This place is the result of two Japanese chefs – one who specialises in ramen noodles and another in panfried gyoza (crescent shaped dumpling). So, as you can imagine their bowls of ramen in their special mainly pork based soup can actually cure a soupy noodle craving.

While there are choices such as a more robust Goku Raku soup, creamier but lighter Tonkutsu soup and the one infused with the distinct soya and earthy flavours of miso, their ramen may look like our yellow egg noodles but the texture is nothing like it. There’s a more chewy texture to them and they’re more substantial and firm too while carrying a subtle indistinctive flavour.

Drench them in a soup base that finely balances pork, chicken and fish essences, add their unique char siew that’s more delicate in sweetness compared to the local ones and their marinated boiled egg with squishy-velvety yolk, you’ve got a crowd pleaser.

Their bowls of soupy ramen come in three sizes of small, regular and large. The small starts at RM15.90++ and is enough for a small eater or a light lunch. I’d recommend that with a serving of their light and delicate steamed/boiled gyoza at RM8.90++ for five pieces and you’ve got a pretty hefty lunch.

Although, the best deal here is their lunch set where you add a mere RM2.90++ with any order of a main ramen dish and get a serving of of Japanese rice topped with sweet char siew and their marinated hard-boiled egg. This combination is enough for two and you get to try different things at the same time. If you choose to add RM1.90++ to your main order, you’ll get a lovely bowl of garlic fried rice instead. Top that with their fried slices of garlic for a crunch and pungent, spicy bite. Otherwise, if you’re lunching alone, a free drink or dessert comes with your order of a main dish.

The staff is friendly and attentive here and food is served in a matter of minutes. The interior of the place is cosy and the atmosphere is casual, echoing the minimalist Japanese style reflecting efficiency. Kitty Kaye
