Jin Hoe Cafe
Located along Jalan Cantonment, don’t belittle the size of this cafe and what it brings. The place is famed for two things, Nyonya cooking and Johnny’s nasi lemak. The queue can go for miles for the packs of nasi lemak. Each packet consists the usual serving of fragrant coconut flavoured rice, crunchy anchovies and roasted peanuts. However, what sets Johnny’s nasi lemak from the rest is the generous dollop of homemade sambal belacan which is the dish’s highlight. If its piquant meter is beyond your limits, order from a waiter for a glass of teh tarik for a soothing accompaniment.
46, Jalan Cantonment, Pulau Tikus, Penang.
Opening times: Mon-Sat, 8.30am-9.30pm; closed on Sun
