Doubling as a backpacker’s lodge, The Tipsy Tiger has achieved legendary status as a cheap party hub. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a cheaper bar in all of George Town; fork out RM10 for rum, whisky, gin or vodka mixers, RM8 for beers or shots, or RM45 for the ‘all you can drink’ deal – that’s what you’d pay for a single beverage elsewhere in town!
Besides serving cut-price drinks, The Tipsy Tiger throws mean parties seven nights a week. Taking a page from college parties, the bar hosts beer pong contests with cash prizes. Our only gripe is that these wrap up before midnight to let the hostel’s guests get a good night’s rest. Fair enough.
