Time Out says

3 out of 5 stars

February 2013

Ensconsed within the Tesco complex in Tanjung Tokong, this little place has steadily built its fan base with simple but quality yong tau foo, hor fun and their lovely, clear soup served with almost every dish. Humble in interior and down to earth in ambience, there are no pretensions of grandeur here. Wooden stools, chairs and tables lend to its feel of a sidewalk coffee shop, albeit a clean and air-conditioned one.

While there are quite a few noodle or rice dish to choose from, their black bean hor fun is something worth trying simply because it’s different. This is where the dry flat noodles are drenched in thick black bean sauce, giving a tinge of salty, fermented flavour that’s curiously appetising.

For a taste of their famous deep fried yong tau foo, the dry tong fun comes with a side plate of five yong tau foo pieces that are fresh and fleshy. The tong fun itself is glass noodles coated in a dark sauce that’s really quite tasty. Each of these dishes comes with a bowl of heart-warming clear soup.

Main dishes start at around RM12.90 and service is efficient and friendly. A meal for two here can cost no more than RM30 including drinks. No wonder this place is becoming increasingly popular! Kitty Kaye.
