Thean Seng Huat
While the unmaintained facade that houses Thean Seng Huat holds no promise for future refurbishment, it is still the home to one of the many dying trades in Penang. Founded in 1930s by then owner Ng Poh Yong, his rattan weaving legacy continues with his son, Ng Kuan Soon who effortlessly weave various crafts from wicker baskets and cane furniture to vegetable baskets and sepak takraw balls. If you have large orders or looking for someone to do repair work on your cane furniture, book ahead and he'll have your order ready in a few days.
