With nearly 5,000 animals and 652 species in residence, Prague Zoo is often ranked among the best in the world. Since it was hit by floods in 2002, the zoo's inmates have benefitted from numerous improvement projects that had been on the shelf until the floods made them obligatory. In addition, successful breeding programmes add plenty of new animal babies to coo over.
