One of the most respected art refuges in town, the Kampa Museum enjoys an enviable location on the waterfront of the city's loveliest island, with a gorgeous terrace café. Its impressive modern art collection was amassed over decades by Jan Mládek, an international financier and former Prague student, and his wife, art patron Meda Mládek, both of whom lived in exile before the Velvet Revolution. Sculpture by Otto Gutfreund and work by František Kupka sit alongside a permanent show of modern art from across Central Europe. The programme of temporary exhibitions brings in fresh art from Europe and beyond.
