The Black Ox is one of the last authentic neighbourhood pubs in this district, with murals that make it look as if it's been here forever when it was actually built after World War II. Its superb location above the castle made it a prime target for redevelopment in the post-1989 frenzy, but the rugged regulars bought it in order to ensure that bearded artisans would have at least one place where they could afford to drink. The Kozel beer is perfection; snacks are pretty basic, but they do their job.

I have not had the opportunity to visit the CR. However, I will this Summer. According to Evan Rail's book, "Good Beer Guide to Prague and the CR, almost all of the beers mentioned so far (with the exception of Bernard) are given extremely low ratings.
