I Love it...it's a total one off. An Alpine Lodge in Mayfair!! Great Cocktail Menue, Friendly Staff, small bar upstairs and great venue downstairs. Moose Skin Seats! Happy Hour between 4 and 9 and different DJ's every night of the week (except Mondays I think). I've been there after work for happy hour loads of times and on a Friday night which was really busy!!
The drinks are great value in happy hour and the whole vibe of this place is fantastic. Unfortunately the service is terrible - such attitude from the moment we walked in the door. We ordered from the bar snacks menu and had to send pizzas back twice as they were not cooked (cheese not melted, really doughy!). We ended up asking to speak to the manager as the rest of the staff were so unhelpful and unfriendly. A real shame as this is a great venue.
Can't believe I'd never heard of this place before! The whole vibe of the place was great with a great crowd. Went for a friend's birthday who'd booked the tables in the VIP area. Place was really busy and drinks really cheap between 5 and 9. it was great being able to try some different cocktails without feeling like you'd spent a small fortune like you do in most places. Staff were really friendly, especially the doorman who organised us a cab at the end of the night. All in all definitely one to recommend.
Everybody has to check this bar out, somehow wound up there over the weekend and it rocked!! staff were friendly and accommodating and the cocktails were great. The party was in full swing when we arrived, about 11pm, and the vibe was brilliant, full of people who wanted to enjoy themselves.
This bar could be great: good cocktail list, quirky stylish decor (ugly ladies loo though)and a disco-tastic downstairs dance floor worthy of John Travolta but the bar staff really let the place down when we visited a few weeks ago. Quite honestly the barman was nothing short of surly when serving but somehow managed a smirk when he realized he had ordered meat for the vegetarians with us and they had eaten it by mistake...hmmm...not that impressive. The manager had to come and apologize in the end. He was actually very genuinely sorry but his staff are disappointing to say te least. I'm glad other people have had a more positive experience of the venue but I won't be returning any time soon.
I'd never been to this place before and was looking for somewhere new for a joint birthday party as we'd got bored of the same old bars every week and just wanted something different. I was recommended it by a few people - friends of friends mostly and we went in midweek just to make sure it was ok. The location seemed familiar and then I remembered going there when it was called The Camel (I think) but oh my god it was so much better now! Amazing decor, great barstaff making fabulous cocktails (which were only £3.75 in their happy hour from 5 til 9, bargain!!) What more can you ask for? We booked the party and we certainly weren't disappointed. A lot busier at the weekend, but that just made for an even better atmosphere. Will definitely be going there more often.
I decided to go to this bar for my hen night having it recommened from a friend and reading all the good reviews. Boy was I disappointed!
First of all I booked a table for 10-12 people and all I received were two dinky little tables. We had to steal chairs and tables from other people. A couple of my friends asked where my table was and were told to find it themselves... The service was pretty slow, but admittedly it was quite busy (we started at 8pm) but I was served by the most rude barman I ever seen in London. We had a misunderstanding over the drinks as I could not hear him over the music, to make I tried to tip him £4 for 3 cocktails and he slid the money back over the counter at me. The DJ was rude too. My friend asked him if he could play some disco and funk (as advertised on the mosse website) and was informed that he would play what he likes and he only plays commercial house. We would never have gone had we known this as we wanted a variety of muisc Most of the music played were really old remixed songs fromm 1997-1999. Fair enough if the DJ does not accept requests, but nobody was dancing except him until about 10pm and we were all really amped to start dancing. Eventually he started playing some R&B but again, mostly old songs. The cocktails were great and well worth the happy hour price tag but couldnt have more flavour. We did enjoy our night out simply because we are all pretty chilled out and determined to have a great time either way, but I will never go this bar again and I will not recomment it to anybody
Pretty small poxy bar really. Amazed it achieves such high scores from other users. The upstairs area is very small and people have to constantly push past to get to the downstairs area which is bigger, but not much.
DJ tunes are intrusive upstairs (even though the DJ is downstairs) and tables are mostly reserved.
It feels poor, with little spent on the interior. The photos on TimeOut are very generous.
The atmosphere is the worst part. Not a good relaxing place to chill out which is what I was expecting given the reviews/ratings. More of a pre-club type place that's going to come alive much later in the evening.
There are no words to describe how bad this bar is. Do not go there. The bar is ridiculously understaffed, and its nigh on impossible to get served. The bar staff are generally quite good and they try their best in difficult circumstances (i.e. two bar staff in the downstairs bar on a saturday night and 100 people trying to get served). What really kills this bar though is the bouncers. We reserved a part of the bar for a birthday party and brought over fifty people into the bar. In spite of this though, we were treated terribly by the bouncers. They had given us a designated area, but no matter where we stood in our area we rudely pushed and cojoled bouncers (despite standing in the area they had assigned to us). I will never go back and would warn anybody else about going there. Rude staff and expensive drinks are not a good recipe for a night out.
This a really wicked bar, but I'd never even heard of it as it's hidden down the side of Selfridges. Had an amazing time at a colleague's birthday bash, especially the cocktails and the fact they use real coke when you order a vodka and coke instead of the watery stuff most places serve from a pump. Great music and great atmosphere too!
