why do all brit films need to be about funerals or weddings? And we're not doing it well anymore either it seems. I usually love the british genre but actually wanted to walk out half way through this one. And i reckon the actors are going to regret doing this. Its like watching a school drama lesson, so you're totally conscious that they're acting and trying to make their improvisation look good. I was so disappointed, a terrible vehicle for amazing talent such as Martin Freeman and Alison Steadman. It is embarrassing, especially the singing at the end, and the director seems to be making no apology for the soppy attempt at appealing to the american market. The only thing i laughed at was the gay couple, but how difficult .. or original..is it to play a funny camp character? The audience in the cinema seemed to appreciate the frequent nudity yet i felt the director was relying on this too much for entertainment. Again I think the actors are going to regret going to these lengths for such a poor film. I'm gutted. Is anyone going to do anything decent in this country which appeals to everyone as Bridget did? Lastly, the concept of a compeition where people just randomly try and come up with the most original idea, but which means virtually nothing to them, and that 2 gay blokes organise them all anyway...where's the competition? You can't possibly care. Oh. And Jimmy Carr is crap.
