Took my mother here for mothers day after spotting it while passing on the bus. Took a note of the website and booked a table online, the booking was dealt with promptly and an email confirmation sent.
On arriving we were greeted by a lovely freindly waiter who let us choose a table as we got there early. The decor is very modern and has an african earlthly feel to it with strips of lit bamboo around the walls, it felt new and was clean which is very important to us.
Onto the food, the menu is vast and if you dont know what you want then the staff are happy to help you, our friendly chefess came out of the kitchen to help us select a good mixture of dishes. We started with roasted plantain and fried yam, both absoltely delicious but also very filling for a starter. For main we tried the Jerk Chicken, Fried Stewed Fish, Jollof rice and moi-moi bean cake. The amounts were plentiful and we both were very satisfied and full after the meal, I even took home the leftover jollof rice which will easily feed me two more times!
The cost of the meal came in at just over 30 pounds including service (we had soft drinks with the main), which i think is very reasonable for what we had. I enjoyed the experience and the food and will definately go back again.
One thing that is unique about Biazo is the staff, having someone explain the menu or should I say even be keen to talk about their food is a rarity in london, it gave it more of a personal touch to think they were interested in us enjoying new tastes and experimenting. Recommended.
I got taken here as a surprise for our annual anti valentines weekend (we try to be as unromantic as possible). And I was overjoyed to end up at the Hummus Bros for lunch. We arrived just as it opened and the staff and kitchen were ready and running, we took our places near the counter on the 'wagamamma' style dining tables.
Out waitor was fantastic and talked us through the menu options and how the hummus was served. We picked and ordered. Upon seeing our order of medium plates he kindly suggested we may want to take the smaller plates as the servings are quite large, we took his advice and re-ordered.
We ended up getting hummus topped with chicken and pine nuts and hummus topped with beef and a side order of greek salad, this all came with one piece of pitta each. I really didn't know what to expect when it arrived but it was perfectly presented with large pittas and it looked so fresh. The taste was probably one of the most amazing experience my taste buds have experienced in years, the hummus mixed with the chicken in sauce actually made me moan out loud a few times in food pleasure, absolutely delicious. The hummus is not made with garlic as they think it overpowers the flavour of the chickpeas and how right they are - you get given garlic on the side in case you want to add it, but dont, its so perfect as it is.
We polished off everything and finished off with a cup of amazing hot spiced apple juice and ginger lemonade. We were then invited to stay on and enjoy complimentary mint tea. The bill came in at under 20 pounds and was extremely good value for money - the waiter saved us money by suggesting we take smaller plates, not many restaurants would do that.
I will definately be going back here, the food is verging on perfect for my pallette, its cheap and it doesnt feel like a stuffy flashy restaurant, just eat, laugh and go.
