The former stables of the Palazzo del Quirinale, this large space for major exhibitions retains original features such as the brickwork ramp to the upper floors, plus acres of chic marble flooring and space-age lighting. There is a good art bookshop and a café and - best of all - a breathtaking view of Rome's skyline from the rear staircase as you leave. Exhibitions held here are generally fascinating, excellent and very over-subscribed: it pays to book ahead.
