Chiostro dei Genovesi review

To the left of the 15th-century church of San Giovanni dei Genovesi is a wooden door (ring the bell marked 'Sposito' to get in) that opens into a glorious flower-filled cloister with a well, part of a 15th-century hospice for Genoese sailors designed by Baccio Pontelli. Concealed among the octagonal columns supporting the double loggia is a plaque commemorating Rome's first palm tree, planted here in 1588.
