American John Moss has been at the helm of Rome's oldest gay bar since it opened over two decades ago. Hangar maintains its friendly but sexy atmosphere whether half full (occasionally midweek) or packed (at weekends and for porn-video Monday and striptease Thursday). Two bar zones are linked by a long, dark passage, designed for cruising before consuming. Much to the delight of visiting tourists, and the twenty- and thirtysomething clientele, the venue also has a small dark area.
