Founded in 1971, the Oberlin Dance Collective has garnered an international reputation for its physically and intellectually vigorous modern dance. It has its own school, gallery and theatre, which hosts a variety of works all year round, while ODC itself also performs twice a year at the Yerba Buena Center. ODC recently expanded into an adjacent 23,000sq ft (2,100sq m) performance space on Shotwell Street (ODC Dance Commons), and also began renovations on its 17th Street theatre in late 2007.
