Housed in the historic Palace of Fine Arts, the Exploratorium has over 600 interactive exhibits about science, art and human perception. A highlight is the Tactile Dome, a geodesic hemisphere of total blackness in which you try to identify various objects; book in advance (561 0362, $16). Another highlight is the Wave Organ, located nearby on the water's edge. Sea waves rush in underneath, pushing air up through the organ's tubes to create a symphony of eerie tones and sighs.
