The finest of all local flea markets - showcasing everything from Victorian lace and Depression-era dishware to 1950s Formica kitchen tables and 1970s stacked Superfly boots - is Alameda Point Antiques & Collectibles Faire, at the former Alameda Point Naval Air Station. Touted as Northern California's largest antiques and collectibles show, with more than 800 dealers, the event takes about half a day to cover and entry costs $5-$15 (it's cheapest after 9am).
No vendors of cheap socks or sellers of fallen-off-the-truck food here (the bane of other massive swap meets in Oakland and San Jose) - everything sold at the Alameda market must be at least 20 years old, and no reproductions are permitted.
