American Conservatory Theater review Rate it

Since opening in 1967, the ACT has been staging modern classics and new works by the likes of David Mamet, earning it a solid reputation. It is also known for its fine conservatory, whose alumni include Annette Bening and Denzel Washington. In addition to ACT shows, the exquisite Geary Theater usually hosts one or two touring productions per season (recently, John Doyle's much-lauded reimagining of Sweeney Todd), and stages the always popular A Christmas Carol every year.
