4Qs with…Mikail Lo, guitarist for Peepshow and organiser of Warm and Fuzzy Feeling: the Carnival
What’s the deal with Operation Smile Singapore?
Warm and Fuzzy Feeling: The Carnival will take place on 13 July. It is the first fundraising activity that the NUS Volunteer Project is putting together under Operation Smile Singapore to raise funds to provide children who suffer from a cleft lip with the option of fixing it.
NUS Volunteer Project? Tell us more.
It started out with a small group of people getting together to help out in the community by going down to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) every month and organising activities for the kids there. In theory, we want to empower the youth to realise their full potential given their current situation. We’ve only been operating in full force in the last two years, but we’ve worked with the KKH Cleft and Craniofacial Centre and its affi liates.
Will your band Peepshow be performing for the Carnival?
Yes, we will. Peepshow has been around for over three years and we have five members, including myself on the guitar. Each one of us contributes to the writing of songs.
Who are your guitar heroes?
John Rzeznik, SK (Susheel Kumar) and Gary Hoey, in that order. There are a lot of people who play the guitar well, but I’m in awe every time I watch these three musicians play.
