Over the past year the trailblazing promoters have turned the normally tranquil Connaught Drive into a bloc party with hip-hop legends Arrested Development, and transformed the stiff corporate environment of Raffles Place into a mini outdoor music fest by organising a free event featuring Sweden’s androgynous electronic-jazz maestros, Koop. After the success of the enrichingly eclectic Mosaic Music Festival at the Esplanade in March, it’s time for the kids to put away their striped cardigans and forget every folksy, indie-schmindie tune they’ve ever heard as Kinemat brings in a mix of DJs who won’t go quietly into the night. Look out for Austrian überproducers Kruder & Dorfmeister, MANDY, Diplo, Earl Zinger, Gilles Peterson, Cut Chemist, Karizma, Âme, local spin doctors Has, Jeremy Boon, Aldrin, and percussionists Wicked Aura ‘cause-a-ruckus’ Batucada.

This is a bill tailor-made to appeal to a crowd that knows its dance. Diplo’s live show can be quite a trip for first-timers, as you might expect something wildly in-your-face. However, he maintains a laidback stage presence and lets his fingers do the sexing. Âme (aka Kristian Beyer & Frank Wiedemann), on the other hand, goes deep and groovy, which may not go down too well with nu-ravers. And let’s not forget Aldrin, one of Singapore’s most prominent spinmeisters and a crucial influence on our current dance scene. Bands come and go, but when you’re in the presence of these masters of the heavenly beat, it’s a constant thrill ride. And what do we say when we want to get in touch with our celestial souls? Hit it, DJs!

It was really a marvellous great event on the 18th may.. but was wondering is there any pic gallery for that event??
for saying what was on the minds of everyone at worldwide festival! the vibe was great, beautiful location, cool crowd. but the music was too damn slow - all night! even gilles! everyone was waitingwaitingwaiting for it to pick up, but it stayed mid-tempo the whole time. i'd go back for another and brave the heat in a second - just bring on the beat!
Wake up call to K&D: There WAS a crowd at Fort Canning. It may come to a surprise to you, but everyone was waiting for the party to take off. Anything more than 100bpm would have been nice. It was so flat that punters were falling asleep on the grass - literally!. Highlight of the evening were the visuals, especially Lisa Simpson as The Lizard Queen". Don't come back boys unless the can move a crowd and get them to jump up in the air and scream. You couldn't even get the crowd to dance. Sad.
