What's in your stacks? - DJ Brendon P

Five tracks on heavy duty this month

1. ‘Merging (Wild Glitch Dub)’ by TJ Kong & Nuno Dos Santos (Compost Black)
What can I say: forward-thinking music from a forward-thinking label, with a classic voice on it. Much respect!

2. ‘Unforgiven/Dark Soldier’ by Roland Appel (Sonar Kollektiv)
A top tune from the Truby Trio/Fauna Flash man, on one of my favourite German labels. ‘Unforgiven’ rocks my boat for its not-so-four-to-the-floor audacity, while ‘Dark Soldier’ is deep vocal techno at its best.

3. ‘We Are Stars’ by Blazaebla (Monologic)
A top tune. I love the dreamy, laidback vocals on this one, and the great, simple bass hook. The only problem is it’s too short and I had to re-edit to play it out.

4. ‘Kingdom (Booka Shade Remix)’ by David Gahan (Mute)
The voice of Depeche Mode’s second solo outing off the Hourglass LP is reinterpreted in fi ne style by Booka Shade.

5. ‘Achiri’ by Brendon P (Unreleased)
Quite honestly, I’m not quite finished with this one yet, but it rocked when I played it in the warm-up for Carl Cox’s set at Velvet Underground last year. So I’m touching it up a tad, but I’m happy with it.

Catch Brendon P spinning at Velvet Underground on weekdays and Saturday nights.
