What's in your stacks? - Miso Flamingo

Issue 13

1. ‘Voodoo Ray’ by A Guy Called Gerald (Rham!)
This record hasn’t left my bag in a year. A classic acid-house track that sounds good even today. Simple yet effective drums; futuristic and timeless. And I got it for RM5.

2. ‘Baroque’ by Château Flight (Innervisions)
Electronic music but with a real classical feel. A highly developed, evolved sound. If machines had feelings, this is what their orchestra would sound like.

3. ‘Runny’ (Berkson & What remix) by D’Julz (Poker Flat)
This perfect study of the current minimal sound hits all the marks, and the totally groovy bassline after the breakdown deserves to be a song of its own.

4. ‘Woman of the World’ by Double (A&M)
Released in 1986, but thanks to Ame nobody would guess that it’s more than two decades old. Reminds me of my time in Melbourne.

5. ‘The Dance’ by Rhythim Is Rhythim (Transmat)
Not typically lauded, but to me this is what pure techno-soul is all about: surrenderous. Nobody could achieve something like this other than Derrick May.
