Beethoven Complete Piano Sonatas

This event has finished

This is the first concert of its kind in Singapore, in which 12 local and international pianists tickle the ivories together, presenting all 32 of Beethoven’s piano sonatas. Spanning 27 years of the unrivalled maestro’s work, this will undoubtedly be an awe-inspiring concert.

5 Aug: Patsy Toh and Lim Tshui Fang Teacher and student perform Sonatas No 2 (Op 2, No 2), No 5 (Op 10, No 1), No 18 (Op 31, No 3 ‘The Hunt’), No 19 and 20 (Op 49, No 1 and 2).

16 Aug: Ernest Lim, Ng Chong Lim and Rena Phua These three talented pianists perform Sonatas No 22 (Op 54), No 24 (Op 78 ‘A Thérèse’), No 13 (Op 27, No 1 ‘Quasi una Fantasia’) and No 28 (Op 101).

17 Aug: Loo Bang Hean The Malaysian pianist performs No 16 (Op 31, No 1), No 25 (Op 79 ‘Cuckoo’), No 27 (Op 90) and the last, great sonata, No 32 (Op 111).

19 Aug:
Albert Tiu Filipino pianist and assistant piano professor at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music tackles Sonatas No 11 (Op 22) and No 29 (Op 106 ‘Hammerklavier’).

30 Aug: Bobby Chen Young and talented Malaysian pianist performs Sonatas No 8 (Op 13 ‘Pathétique’), No 9 (Op 14/No 1 ‘Moonlight’) and No 10 (Op 14, No 2).

31 Aug: Foo Mei Yi One of the most exciting pianists of her generation, Foo brings her considerable technical skills to No 10 (Op 26 ‘Funeral March’), No 26 (Op 81a ‘Les Adieux’) and the late and beautiful No 30 (Op 109).

2 Sep: Op 13, Op 27 No 2 and Op 28 Boris Kraljevic, from Serbia and Montenegro, performs Beethoven’s Piano Sonata Op 13 ‘Pathétique’ (perhaps his best-known), the ‘Moonlight’ Sonata and the lovely Op 28.

5 Sep: Op 7, Op 53 and Op 57 German-born pianist Valentin Schiedermair puts his fingers to the early Piano Sonata Op 7 and the great Op 53 ‘Waldstein’, ending in the magnificent ‘Appassionata’, Op 57.
