Giselle in the Park
The lush greenery of Fort Canning Park provides an uncannily perfect backdrop for Giselle, Singapore Dance Theatre’s latest outdoor event. Bring along a picnic basket and sink your teeth into the thrilling tale of love and betrayal. In Adolphe Adam’s ballet, Giselle, a village maiden, falls in love with Albrecht, a nobleman who pledges eternal love despite being betrothed to a duke’s daughter. Driven mad with grief, Giselle kills herself and turns into a wili, one of the wood sprites known for forcing men to dance until they drop dead. Recline under the stars as the popular ballet unfolds. Staged by Janek Schergen and Paul de Masson, and performed by Singapore Dance Theatre’s Company Dancers.
