Kinara
The cooking is complex but not showy, with every dish an example of the fabulous chemistry of spices and aromatic vegetables Indian meals are famed for. Plan your meal around a carb-based dish like a pile of darkhued naan, flecked with mint, or a biryani. Pair the carbs with a coconut-infused Keralan fish curry; Lucknawi Burra kebab – meaty lamb chops, marinated and cooked in a thick crimson gravy of tomatoes and ginger; and Ajwaini Machli tikka – thick fish cubes, spiced and lashed with lemon before being plunged into a hot tandoor oven.

It was a little unfair of Kinara to open two doors down from Chat Masala on the East Coast - the two are very similar indeed and Chat has been busy for a long time. Kinara is also very good - the minty Parsi Green Machli fish curry, ladies fingers with mango powder and green chillies stuffed with spicy potato were all delicious. Good value drinks - we asked for one extra glass of wine to share between two which was brought in two glasses, both of which were bigger than the original single glasses. Nice!
