Pantry Magic

Browsing through the newly opened Pantry Magic is a little like being a child let loose in Toys ‘R’ Us, especially if  you’re a fan of  Alessi and Williams-Sonoma. The bright space, in a former carpet shop along Jalan Merah Saga, is lined with white shelves stuffed with just about every kitchen gadget and tool you need to chop, peel, stir and slice your way to domestic nirvana. While some of  the stock may be pedestrian (kitchen linen, scales, nutmeg graters and ramekins among them), many items will have you wondering how you ever managed to survive without them. These novel necessities include a rubber-based mixing bowl (for easy one-handed mixing), the pliers-like  hard-boiled-egg-slicer, a pizza stone, truffle shaver, and even a special chopping board just for sausages. #01-08 Chip Bee Gardens, 43 Jalan Merah Saga (6471 0566, www.pantry-magic.com).
