The adjoining stall sells superb bak zhangs (dumplings), while upstairs is a museum/gift shop/bespoke service. But the central attraction here is the small but wondrous Peranakan menu. The items are all fairly standard but cooked with such attention to intense flavours that halfway through the meal, you’re already planning the return visit. The kitchen never takes a wrong step – the thickly gravied beef rendang is fork-tender, the crisp kailan is infused with oyster sauce, while the lushly flavoured babi pongtay (braised pork) is nicely salted and a perfect foil for the mouth-watering sambal.
