After all these years, this place still manages to pack them in, especially at the weekend. All this without any fancy decor, though we’re rather fond of the tree-lined views of the bay through the windows that curve along the restaurant. No one seems to mind that a simple dinner for two could set you back $70, but this could be because the Chinese and Malay menu of homey classics is consistently good. We’re fond of the thick logs of fish cakes floating through the creamy laksa, the richly pungent rojak and the fragrant chicken rice.
