Formal Chinese restaurants, often stereotyped as bastions of pork and weird meats, aren’t that popular with your average herbivore. Lingzhi is an exception. At first glance the menu screams ‘meat’ but upon closer inspection, ‘monkey head’ and ‘chicken-leg’ refer to types of mushrooms and shark’s fin melon is a fruit, not a fish. Vegetarians will rejoice at the helpful descriptions of each dish on the menu, including info on Chinese food’s ‘heaty’ and ‘cooling’ characteristics.
