Guide to television, websites and gadgets in Singapore
Websites - May 2008
www.boardreader.com
Imagine having a Google-like search engine, but one that only searches forums and message boards. Before you unsubscribe from all your news feeds, there are some hitches. For instance, if you’re looking for tourist information on Kuala Lumpur, the site will cull everything from car rentals to local football matches. However, because it only searches the top 100,000 domains, chances are only the Keeptouch, Hardwarezone, ClubSnap and the VR-Zone forums will show up. In short, you may be better off just Googling it.
www.corkd.com
Can’t remember the name of that bottle of vino you had last week? Perhaps you had one glass too many… Avoid such scenarios with www.corkd.com. The site allows you to read up (and recommend) wines you want to taste and tag, review the ones you have tried, or create an online shopping list of the wines you’re hankering after (or already own – show-off!). Simple to use and similar to Flickr’s model of collaborative, user-driven content, the site is a wine aficionado’s dream.
