Its name might reference a New York borough, but Manhattan Bar in Regent Hotel is Singapore’s – and Asia’s – top watering hole, according to the World’s 50 Best Bars ranking by Drinks International.
The handsome bar came in 11th on the list, which includes establishments from 27 cities. Two other local cocktail bars also made the cut: the reliable 28 HongKong Street (14th) and Operation Dagger, which made its debut in 21st place. Topping the list is New York’s The Dead Rabbit Grocery and Grog.
It means the Little Red Dot leads Asia when it comes to places to get your drink on. Seven bars from the continent scored a spot on the list, including Shanghai’s Speak Low (15th), Tokyo’s High Five (23rd) and Hong Kong’s Lobster Bar and Grill (27th).
However, it looks like the cocktail scene in Europe still trumps all. A total of 22 bars from the UK, Greece, France, the Netherlands and Italy, among other nations, made the cut – the US, in comparison, is repped by 14 bars.
