‘I love you, Megatronz!’ Meghan Trainor yells, grinning from ear to ear. Yep, that’s what she calls her fans. And they immediately reciprocate with roars of excitement. The Coliseum is pretty packed. Parents dance next to their stars-truck kids as they shriek in response to everything she says. Hordes of hyped-up teens clutch glow sticks and handmade ‘All aboard the M-Train!’ posters. Couples sway to the music when Trainor serenades the crowd with slower numbers. Groups of girlfriends break out the moves as they boogie their way to funkytown.

Supported by a full band, along with two backup singers, Trainor pulls out all the stops to make the 15-song, hour-long family-friendly gig as fun as possible. And let’s not forget sparkly – her headband and gold skirt twinkle in the light as she clutches a glittering mic. At one point, the entire arena transforms into a disco ball party at the snap of her fingers.

Everything flows smoothly as Trainor goes from song to song – you can tell how much effort she puts into making things perfect – but there’s just a tiny bit of hesitation on her part when it comes to entertaining. Sure, she’s as adorable as they come, pausing mid-song just to wave and blow kisses, but when she tries to bust a move to ‘Uptown Funk’ by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, it comes across as more robotic than spontaneous. Then again, the 21-year-old only hit the big time last year, so she’s got plenty of time to work on her stage presence. And it all ends on a sweet note, with confetti raining down on everyone as she blasts out her hit track, ‘All About That Bass’.
