Time Out says

You don’t have to fly to Japan to soak in an onsen. Ikeda Spa’s bathing experience is authentic enough to please even the most wizened red-faced macaque: it’s got black ceramic floor tiles, shower valves and stools and, of course, a hinokiburo – a tub made of Japanese cypress – imported straight from the motherland. (We’re kidding about the monkeys, though.)

To celebrate Singapore’s 52nd birthday, Ikeda spa will be featuring a special edition Orchid Flower Onsen Bath ($95 single entry). The orchid flower is not just a beautiful bloom, but has been associated with medication, fragrance and skincare. The pigmentation in orchid petals is a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, which will help combat premature aging conditions. The water-holding capacity of the flower makes it an excellent aid to seasonal ailments like the common cold. Additionally, the relaxant properties of orchids have long been used to aid people with insomnia to achieve a restful night’s sleep. All of these benefits come on top of the anti-bacterial, calming and uplifting benefits of a traditional onsen. For the whole of August, book a 60-minute spa treatment and add on the Orchid Flower Onsen Bath for $38.
