What a difference a hundred metres make; this former Craig Road tenant has moved across the street into the old Jolly Frog digs. The increase in foot traffic has definitely helped move Sui out of the shadows, and away from the former cloud of exclusivity. It also has everything to do with its value-for-money lunch sets: from $15+ you can pick from 15 sets on the menu. Each set includes an appetiser of marinated wakame, a standard salad with ginger dressing, chawanmushi and a scoop of ice cream for dessert. The mixed sushi with Sanuki udon set ($16.80+) comes with eight pieces and a small bowl of udon in broth. While the quality remains basic, the sets do well to fill the tummy. Its tranquil corner-shophouse setting also provides a nice respite, especially in the afternoon.
Lunch sets $12.80-$28.80; à la carte mains $5-$80.
