Octoburst! – A Children’s Festival
Children’s Day was the best day ever, period. School lasted ’til lunchtime, teachers gave us cool gifts, and the faculty even had to put up performances for us. Fun times. But the celebrations don’t always have to end at the school gates. Over the Children’s Day weekend, the whole family can bask in on the fun with Octoburst! – A Children’s Festival. Tailored for children between two and 12, this year’s edition of the event encourages the kids to explore their creativity through art. Check the esplanade website for more information. Some events need pre-registration.
Deep house lovers rejoice – Norwegian DJ Finnebassen hits our shores for the first time to push Zouk’s subwoofers to their limits with his signature dirty melancholic house music. Groove to the tunes of hits like 'Touching Me', 'If Only You Knew' and 'What You Do'.
Neh-presso launch party at Common Man Coffee Roasters
It's not a hand-brewed coffee, but it's handheld, and much better for a hot day in the sun (or haze). Artichoke pop shop offshoot, Neh Neh Pop, partners with Common Man Coffee Roasters to mint their own popsicle, the Neh-presso. Filled with dark espresso jelly, white chocolate and three-in-one coffee crumble, this two-day launch party will celebrate the cheeky treat, as well as Neh Neh Pop's new permanent ice-cream carts at Common Man and its brother coffee spot, 40 Hands.
Explore the aquarium in a different light as the terrors of the deep get into the Halloween spirit. Visit the Vampire’s Lair or the Mad Scientist’s Lab to learn more about the wonders of marine life, and check out what has been billed as ‘Singapore’s first-ever underwater pumpkin carving’.
Halloween Horror Nights 5
One of Singapore’s biggest Halloween events, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios is back again to scare the living daylights out of you. There are four haunted houses this year – including a HDB flat filled with Chinese, Malay and Indian (here’s looking at you, ethnic quota) spirits – as well as three 'scare zones', which feature cursed villagers, diseased inhabitants and terrifying aliens.
New kid on the block Otto Jetman, better known by his moniker Otto Knows, took the world by storm with the insanely catchy dance anthem 'Million Voices' back in 2012, and is now poised to set Zouk's dance floors afire with his fresh take on EDM.
