Christmas Wonderland Festive Market

If you’ve never swooned over the glühwein and bratwurst on offer at a German Christmas market, here’s your chance. The Christmas Wonderland Festive Market at Gardens by the Bay is modelled after a traditional European one, with an epic spiegeltent (‘mirror tent’) as the fair’s centrepiece. Be sure to bring your cameras along because the gardens will be done up with dazzling 16 metre-tall arches and handcrafted Luminarielight sculptures from Italy. The festive market is open 3-11pm daily until 21 December;the light displays will go on every day, 7pm to midnight , until 1 January 2015.

String quartet VOX bring their classical covers of modern tunes (including a few jingle bells) to the waterfront on 20 December, and Gareth Fernandez and The Momma Shop belt out their soulful tracks on the same stage a week after. Or just take a stroll around the Esplanade to check out the other fringe activities – such as craft workshops – that are also part of the festivities.
