River Hongbao

Gather the whole brood for this one – the iconic Chinese New Year event returns for its 30th edition with a nine-day festival. Apart from spectacular lantern displays, visitors can look forward to a performance of Journey to the West by the Song and Dance Theatre in Nanjing City, a showcase of traditional Chinese handicrafts, food stalls with local and regional delicacies, getai and xinyao shows, as well as an amusement park, which is home to arcade and carnival games, 3D animatronic dinosaur rides and more. On top of that, a pyrotechnic and fireworks display takes place nightly at 9pm (except for Chinese New Year's Eve, when it will take place at midnight).

Nosh on non-menu items like chilaquiles (fried corn tortillas) or beef menudo, both of which come with a beer or margarita for $25. There's also a lucky draw (each set meal ordered counts as one entry) to win a free bottle of Tres Generacions tequila and discounts on your next visit.
