The Riva embankment and Roman palace are a pleasure to walk around and any other form of transport is next to impossible. Even Bacvice beach is only a short stroll away. For farther flung districts, such as Marjan, you'll have to rely on the local bus network.
Walking is the only practical way to get around the town centre. To go to the hilly peninsula of Marjan or beyond Bacvice, take a city bus (10kn on board, 8kn from a kiosk) from either end of the Riva at Trg republike or Zagrebacka by the market. Taxis such as Radio Taxi (970) or Taxi Riva (021 347 777) are parked at either end of the Riva.
