Located a brisk 15-minute walk north of the Old Town, the sleek Hotel Atrium is set
almost next door to the not-as-funny-as-it-sounds Joker Centre, Split's leading shopping mall and a growing hub for cafes and restaurants. Behind a darkglass
exterior (look out for the remains of a Roman aqueduct in the lobby gallery), a seven-floor interior contains 124 large rooms and four suites, all done out very elegantly in wood and marble. It's a great place to relax and decompress, with
muted and soothing colours on the walls, a few good spots for a quiet drink, and staff who are helpful without straying into over-attentiveness. The wellness centre offers superior saunas (infra-red and Finnish), a pool, Jacuzzi and gym, while the ground floor restaurant is in the gourmet class.
