Liljevalchs Konsthall

Liljevalchs Konsthall review Rate it

This beautiful 1916 building next to the aquarium is a fine example of Swedish neo-classicism and is owned by the City of Stockholm. Originally built from a donation by the businessman Carl Fredrik Liljevalch, it attracts a wide audience to its 12 exhibition rooms, where you can view themed and solo shows (which change every three months) by Swedish and international artists. A very popular event is the annual open exhibition, Vårsalongen, in which a jury selects works by both established artists and amateurs, resulting in a vivid blend of high art and kitsch. Next to the building, connected by a pretty garden, is the lovely restaurant-café Blå Porten.
