The Vanadis is best described as a swimming pool with a hotel attached. It's certainly unique: 53 tiny and austere rooms (no wardrobe and, in cheaper rooms, no window) adjoin a large open-air public pool (May-Sept) adorned with murals, in a park close to the city centre. Guests can swim for free in the pool and the adjacent aquatic amusement park. Breakfast is served at the poolside café. Rooms are small, but so are prices, and both rooms and shared bathrooms are kept scrupulously clean. Good for families with small children or budget travellers who might fancy a splash.
