Vin & Sprithistoriska Museet

Between the 1920s and 1960s, all the imported wine and alcohol consumed in Sweden was processed through this warehouse, now the Historical Museum of Wines and Spirits. A path takes you past re-created environments from Sweden's history of alcohol production and consumption - a home distillery from the 1830s and a wine merchant's store from the early 1900s. You can press buttons to activate some of the machinery and pump a 'spice organ' to test your sense of smell. The excellent free audio tour in English really brings the exhibits to life - it's just a shame that this unique museum isn't nearer the centre of town. Call ahead to book a schnapps or wine tasting.
