Architect John G Howard knew a thing or two about making a house a home. Shortly after becoming Toronto's first surveyor, he designed a villa for himself and his wife Jemima on the highest point of land overlooking the Humber Bay (prompting Jemima to dub the area 'High Park'). Howard made several additions to the house, including installation of the city's first indoor toilet. Their home is now a museum, chock-full of the Howards' furniture, kitchen gadgets and other possessions, arranged as they would have been in the 1860s.
