Toronto is known for its comedic improvisers, the most famous being Mike Myers, the Kids in the Hall, Colin Mochrie and improv guru Bruce Hunter. The breeding ground for this talent was Theatresports, which, after a turbulent run at Toronto's Poor Alex Theatre, went under to be replaced by Bad Dog Theatre. This full-time improvisational venue presents an eclectic range of shows - everything from Harry Potter parodies ('Hairy Patter & the Improvisers Stone') to an open comedy jam such as Midweek Mayhem. They offer a weekly free 'drop-in' one-hour improv class, so adventurous types can try their hand. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, tinged with a bit of inventive agitation.
