The multi-level centre houses 800 or so science exhibits, plus Toronto's only planetarium and an Omnimax movie theatre. The OSC opened in 1969, and some exhibits now have a retro feel. But the interactive Science Arcade and the temporary shows are consistently engaging and topical. The new $40-million Weston Family Innovation Centre, described as a 'scientific Times Square', highlights new developments via multimedia displays. The excellent gift shop will please science junkies, but the food is not great. If weather permits, pack a picnic and eat in the park that lies behind the museum.
