Czehoski review

This hip and friendly restaurant and bar has a knack for transforming staid ideas into clever creations. Take the setting: formerly a historic butcher shop (thus the tongue-twisting name, pronounced cha-haw-ski), it has been reworked with a groovy design (though they've kept the old sign out front). On the menu, consider the Mediterranean Diet, an all-veggie antipasti platter. Or the Canadian diet: mac and cheese. The Bourgeois Burger, also listed as the city's 'most ridiculous burger,' is an exercise in excess - and with a price tag to match ($36.75). This playful theme runs throughout the three-storey venue. Upstairs, an open room pulses with live DJs and cocktail-tipplers. The formula is a hit: across the street is the offshoot Coca, where the Spanish flavour of the tapas menus is reflected in saffron-leather banquettes and olive-coloured chairs.
